MYSORE: A 26-year-old youth who went missing since October 16 was found dead in Vijayanagara police limits. The body of Chandan was identified by his parents on Saturday who alleged that their elder son's wife was behind the murder.

According to police, some personnel on night duty found a youth lying unconscious in Hebbal Industrial area early on October 17. He was taken to KR Hospital where he was declared brought dead. As they couldn't identify the body, it was shifted to MMCRI mortuary. Police took his parents to the mortuary and they identified Chandan.

The incident came to light after Chandan's parents Jayarama, a retired employee, and Kaushalyadevi went to Vijayanagara police station to file a missing complaint on Saturday. Chandan was missing since October 16 and his parents saw him last at their Hebbal residence along with another youth, Gaffoor. Till Saturday, parents thought Chandan was at his friend's place but grew suspicious later.

Chandan's parents suspect Shruthi, who divorced their elder son Kiran a few years ago, to be behind Chandan's murder. Kaushalyadevi told police that Shruthi, also a neighbour to them, was claiming that she would destroy their family. Kiran died in a road accident few months ago.

According to police, Chandan's body bore injuries and cause of death was yet to be ascertained. "We are waiting for the postmortem report to proceed further in the case," an officer said.
